Peridot
Peridot is the gem variety of olivine and is the traditional birthstone for the month of August as well as the stone for the zodiac sign of Libra. It is rumored that peridot was a favorite gemstone of Cleopatra and that it would bring the wearer good luck, success and peace. It is also believed to have the power to promote good health, protection and sleep. Legend says that peridot can calm anger, attract love, soothe nerves, and quell negative emotions. Peridot has a hardness of 6.5-7 out of 10 on the Mohs' Scale of mineral hardness.
